That's the number from the latest survey about how many americans think there should be a science debate. It might be too late for the primaries but is it too much to hope for the general election? Now normally this might fall into the category of the statistical fallacy (aka argumentum ad populum or "appeal to the people" which states that just because a large number of people think something is right doesn't make it so) but I think what this stat really shows is that people would take science issues into account when voting. Maybe that's why the candidates aren't doing it.
